About Us

Our friendship began over 28 years ago when we met at the bus stop on our first day of school at Junior High. Although we had lived essentially across the street from each other for years, we had never met. Both terrified, we quickly struck up a conversation and became fast friends. Although we were only neighbors for a couple of years before we found ourselves living on opposite coasts, we remained constant friends and were reunited after college. Since then, we have traversed the country following each other from the West Coast to the East Coast and back again. Having finally rooted ourselves both in the Seattle area we are very excited about the creation of Birds and the Beads. It has been a wonderful outlet for our mutual creativity and our love of jewelry.

Now "all grown up," Paula is a successful freelance graphic designer and mother of one wonderful little boy. Karin is a stay-at-home mother of 3 beautiful girls and part-time karate instructor for small children.
